Hero of the Year Award Announcement

Swimming isn't a fear for William O. Douglas anymore. For he has won 'Hero of the Year' award, he will be presented this honorable award July 10th on MTV. This young man has come a long way to receive this award. For William saved a life of Justin Bieber in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.
The reason Justin Bieber had to be saved as because Selena Gomez pushed him off of the canoe they were in. Rumors say that she found another man that wasn't 3 years younger than her. Also rumors say that she decided he was better than her and wanted to be the top and no one else could stop her. She wanted attention as well. Her thoughts were that she could get attention from her boyfriend’s death and become the new 'It' girl. Boy, she was wrong. Luckily William saved his life and is being presented an award for 'Hero of the Year' because he has saved the idol pop star while having an old phobia of water.
As a young boy he was thrown into a pool at his local YMCA and nearly drowned.  Thankfully he wasn't scared to save Justin's life. Yet a few years after William's tragic accident, he decided to take swimming lessons and became one of the best swimmers in town. This is the reason why he was brave enough to save Justin from the choppy waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
Remember folks to watch William be presented this award July 10th on MTV. Thank you, again, William O. Douglas for saving Justin Bieber and congratulations on winning this marvelous award.

The New Girl in Town Essay

Picture yourself walking into a school that you have never been in. While walking up and down the long hallways you see your father’s friend whom is also your new neighbor. Also your new neighbor is well known around the area for her fashion styles, friends, parents, and wealth. For girls I can personally say that sometimes it might be hard to say that you live in the guesthouse of the most popular girl at the new school you go to. Yet sometimes it can be every girl’s nightmare. For Claire, that is exactly what it turns out to be.
In “The Clique”, by Lisi Harrison, Claire has to move to Westchester, New York from the warm climate of Orlando, Florida. Her dad gets a new job and has to move there.  Claire meets Massie, the popular girl, and things go off hard. That is one thing that I would fear if I ever went to a new school or state and didn’t know anyone, because for some girls that is something we have a fear of. Especially for Claire because she seems to get homesick a lot.  Also her little brother makes things worse for her. Even though I don’t have a little brother, I see my friends who have them and they seem to complain about living with them and not listening to stuff. Yet sometimes they can get along, but that is quite rare to happen. This is why I would hate to have a little brother. Yet things are worse already for Claire and she doesn’t deserve to be put through the nonsense he brings her. Like sneaking into Massie’s room. Being new and having a little brother that can irritate you, isn’t the best thing to happen to Claire. Yet it certainly isn’t the worse.
Claire has been not only tortured by her brother, but also by Massie. She has dumped food on Claire, used her to go to a party, lied, made fun of the way she dresses, and more awful things. I could never picture my friends doing that stuff to each other because we try to tell one another the truth. No matter how hard it is, we try to manage to tell them, unlike Massie and Claire’s friendship. At least Claire makes a friend named Layne along the way. Yet Layne isn’t as some people might say “the coolest person around” Claire sees past that and becomes friends with her. They are one of the closest friends in the book. Both of them do almost everything together.  The best thing about both Claire and Layne is that they are different, similar to my friends and I. We wouldn’t really relate ourselves to anybody else because we have so different of personalities. Outsiders can be the best combination of a friendship, though, because they can relate to one another so easily. Just like me and my friends, even though we aren’t really outsiders.
Seeing past all of the friendship problems, Claire seems to be homesick a lot and misses her friends. Seeing Massie and her friends having a good time isn’t something she likes to really see. All that does to her wants her to move back to Orlando and see her friends again. Good thing she keeps in touch with all of them and has pictures from all of the good times they’ve had posted on her walls. Being homesick can be one of the worst things to happen. I’ve been homesick a lot before. This situation is  when I went to Colorado; I missed my house, dad, pets, and friends. That trip was wonderful yet the only thing that made it bad was missing the things in Wisconsin. Thankfully I called and texted my dad and friends so I felt like I was never really gone.
Being separated from your friends, family, home, home town, and school is hard. That is how life is and sometimes you can’t change that. Even if you try to, you won’t manage to hold on to it forever. This is why Claire can inspire girls who have moved away from their home town to a new one.  For Claire, her nightmare might just turn out to be a happy ever after.

Overcoming Your Fear Essay

Imagine getting tossed around like clothes in the dyer at a young age by the large waves as your father is laughing is not a good experience as a child. Being thrown into a YMCA pool and nearly drowning at the bottom isn’t as well. This is what happens in “Deep Waters”, by William O. Douglas. “Deep Water” will teach you many lessons as you read about William’s life story about his fear, which may also encourage you to overcome a fear you have.
While reading this short story, you will hopefully be taught many things including to overcoming your fears. In the story, the character has to overcome his fear about water. A fear that I have to overcome is my fear of clowns; I’m very terrified of them, and I soon hope that I will overcome my fear of clowns. The character in the story, William, is very brave towards the end. He was courageous enough to go in the water, as an adult, even though he had someone support him while he swam. William was a very strong and brave person to go in the water after his experiences.
Throughout the story you will read about a bully that was practically William effect’s cause of nearly drowning. When you are reading this story about the author’s life, you will read exactly how William felt at the moment as he describes the feelings he had at the time, as well as what he was feeling and seeing at the moment he was sinking to the bottom of the pool. I have been at the bottom of a pool and it’s very difficult to hold your breath compared to closer up on the surface of the water. William didn’t really know he was going to be thrown into the water, the very second he was, so most likely he didn’t breath in enough oxygen to come back up to the surface. The only thing that made it worse was that William isn’t a very good swimmer.
Facing your fears is not the easiest thing to do. You should always try to overcome them, like William, because he swam and never imagined he would go in water again after his life changing incidents.

Memories Essay

Imagine going up the side of the Rocky Mountains in an RV and the road you are traveling up is narrow and very rocky. While you are being driven up, all you want to do is get out because of the harsh road and the view of the RV side dangling off the edge of the mountain side. This has to be one of my favorite memories I have. Whenever I think about it, all of the great memories pop up in my mind. Sometimes I wish I could just go back to Colorado and live those experiences over again.
Those memorizing experiences I had while on that trip were absolutely wonderful to me. Seeing the mountain everywhere in sight is something very difficult for me to forget because of the views I saw. When my mother’s side of the family, who I went with, was driving almost every turn we took we saw rock climbers. I somewhat tried rock climbing, and even though I didn’t have the special ropes, I managed to get about seven feet above ground.
While we were driving we stopped in a town called Boulder, Colorado. Boulder has the best store I’ve been in. And that would be El Loro Jewelry & Clog Co. has bracelets, earrings, clogs, and a lot more wonderful things. I would recommend this store to who ever goes to Boulder, Colorado.
Besides going to Boulder, we went to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  While we were there we saw a very fascinating rodeo that was neat to watch and I would love to go and watch one very soon. That is something everyone should do because of the excitement that occurs. Yet it can be intense to watch when the bull kicks the person off of their back and almost crushes the person. Thankfully it rarely happens, but it did for me and the man luckily got away in time.
